This paper concentrates on the implications of a novel subfield of biology, microbial endocrinology, which deals with conservative chemical factors functioning as hormones and/or neuromediators in higher animals and humans as well as intercellular communication agents in microorganisms. Microbial endocrinology has a considerable biomedical and biopolitical potential, and it has recently contributed to the

following innovations in the biological paradigms: (1) modern biology attaches special attention to the evolutionary role of small molecules, such as inorganic compounds (CO, NO), anions (S2- , Sn2-, OH -, PO43-, etc.), and cations (Al3+, Mg2+, Mn2+, etc.), as well as simple organic substances including carbohydrogens, amines, and amino acids. Presumably, the emergence of life on Earth and the earliest stages of its evolution depended on the dynamic interplay of small-size molecules. Biopolymers became secondarily involved in the fine-grained regulation of life-sustaining and reproductive activities (which had originally depended on small molecules); (2) a large number of human human and non-human behaviors have turned out to depend, in part, on similar or even identical

information-carrying substances (involved in the operation of the nervous, paracrine, and endocrine system). These facts have significantly contributed to the development of the conceptual basis of modern biopolitics, a subfield of life sciences dealing with the biological roots of social and political activities of Homo sapiens; (3) the life of unicellular creatures is considered from a biosocial perspective. For example, a microbial colony is envisaged as similar to a coherent multicellular organism or a "superorganism" Тема настоящей работы — философско-методологическое значение современного биологического направления (имеющего биотехнологическое и
